REGISTRATION & PLATE FEES
Motorhome Registration
2 years old and newer= $320.00 3-5 years old = $285.25
6-8 years old= = $220.00
9-10 years old = $122.00 11 years and older = $112.00
*this fee will gradually decrease each year as the vehicle grows older in age. All motorhomes in Montana expire on the ANNIVERSARY MONTH of the initial registration (i.e. if you were to initially register your RV in March (2006), you will need to renew the tags the following March (2007).
**If you have a lien against your vehicle, please add $8.00 to the registration fee for the LIEN FILING FEE
5th Wheel/Trailer Registration:
Fifth Wheel/ Trailer= $190.00 (ONE-TIME ONLY) registration/plate fee
*All fifth wheel's and trailers are PERMANENTLY registered in Montana; you only have to pay the registration fee ONE time as long as you own the vehicle.
Other Vehicles:
Registration on a vehicle (car, truck, SUV) is value based, unlike the registration of a motorhome. Therefore, registration fees on these vehicles will vary. However, to give you a ball-park figure..
- A new truck can come in close to $500
- A new SUV will come in around $500
- An older or less expensive vehicle will be closer to $200
*Registrations on these vehicles expire annually from the month you initially registered the vehicle. Your annual registration fees will gradually decrease as the vehicle grows older in age and depreciates in tax value.
ANY RV OR VEHICLE THAT IS 11 YEARS OR OLDER IS ELIGIBLE FOR A *PERMANENT TAG* WHICH WILL NOT REQUIRE AN ANNUAL RENEWAL
Motorhome= $285.50 (one time "permanent tag" fee)
Other vehicle= "registration fee multiplied by 3" (one-time "permanent tag" fee)
